D'oh! | How to outwit Corporate communications

A clever Gannettoid has established Twitter account @gannettlogo. For all the money Pence & Co. paid to launch tomorrow's corporate branding campaign, the experts didn't grab this name in time. Meanwhile, @gannettlogo has already attracted 96 118 128 140 190 213 followers -- including yours truly.

A recent tweet: "So? So what if I was designed by committee?? I will have you know IT WAS A VERY PRESTIGIOUS COMMITTEE!!!"

  3. One thing you have to admit about the branding: At a glance, readers will now know instantly why the thing is full of AP copy and runs a whopping eight pages...

  4. What's the point of the tweet? Will there be shocking tweet revelations about the font or the slogan or the companies that are owned by gannett? This is one gotcha that is worthless.

  5. 8:53 is probably trying to interpret for Robin, who definitely does not "get" Twitter.

  8. It is funny, in a silly way. Just as the logo is silly, in a funny way.

  10. I was surprised (maybe I should not have been) by the almost total lack of industry attention to this announcement by corporate.
Surely that can't be a good sign.
I saw the story in USA Today, ironically the platform (sinking ship?) Gannett is apparently (obviously?) abandoning.

  11. Or, as Charlie Sheen would say:
    Duh, winning!

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
