And now for the really important implications

"If they get rid of the snazzy G with the globe, what are they gonna put on my President's Ring?"

-- Anonymous@2:52 p.m., commenting on Gannett's announcement today that it's replacing the current company logo. Corporate disclosed the recipients of last year's rings honoring U.S. newspaper division employees on May 5. (List of 35 winners.)

  3. I thought they quit passing out rings and instead they are just giving people the finger.

  4. What about selling it? Due to the price of gold, these gold buying places are the way to go! (A tip to those of you too who are unemployed and need some extra cash.)

  6. Considering the recent carnage throughout Gannett, there ought to be a moratorium on self-congratulatory crap like the ring thing.
The same people get those almost every year, usually for keeping spending down. This year would be the same old thing. Those who kept stiff upper lips while whacking talented senior staff members would be rewarded for their sociopathic dedication to GCI's purge of expensive employees. Whoopee.
Give it a break and most employees will thank you. Seems like fiddling as the company burns to the ground, don't ya think?

  7. Clearly one of the more outdated "traditions" at Gannett. Men who wear a company ring... well, enough said.

  8. Is a gannett ring like winning a superbowl ring?
