What I'm doing right now

3:02 p.m., San Francisco time: Getting fitted for a crown yesterday, after my dentist told me I had a broken tooth (No. 8!) stemming from a childhood injury. I'm glad I continued my dental plan when I signed up for COBRA

    after the deductible, the insurance will pay for about 30 percent of a crown.

    Jim, my dental group does crowns and everything else with nitrous oxide, but I've never seen the shower cap before. What's the deal with that? Afraid you'll get a stray hair in your mouth?
