An independent journal about the Gannett Co. and the news industry's digital transition
Do they sent all Gannett editors to the same bad writing school. Check out this link. It's worse than the Wausau one yesterday. It's almost breathless. Wonder what's next. A sleepover?http://communitypress.cincinnati.com/article/AB/20110918/NEWS01/109180375/Tell-us-What-makes-your-neighborhood-special-?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CCommunity%20Photos%7Cs
A couple of points to make-1. The My Boss network is now defunct. Stop paying attention to the fake posts.2. There is something happening soon. But not Thursday. It's layoffs, and this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Stop with the cloak and dagger BS posts already.

I am retiring soon, but will have some explosive documents I will be sending to Jim as a parting gift from me and the team!I will thank my sources in a separate post, close to my last day.
8:04, I am going to support you in your efforts. The ending of people's careers just because you can are ending. I need to be able to sleep at night.
Late Monday, S&P cut Gannett stock outlook from "positive" to "stable" but said it expects GCI to outperform other newspaper companies -- http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/26/idUSWNA938520110926
8:04 at worst get fired. Post them know, what have you got to lose, collect unemployment until your retirement day, sense you say it in the near
The S&P report guarantees the list of names will be hauled out and gone over. News coming Thursday or Friday. May be relate may not. Sorry, not much help.
Their are more than just layoffs on the way, The meetings at Gannett HQ that have been on going for over a month is not just to put a layoff plan in place. It is much bigger than that, much bigger. My source is as reliable as it gets.
Pray tell, 11:25.
Selling the company to the hedge-fuxxs?
There will ALWAYS be layoffs coming. It's just a matter of how many. ALWAYS have your resume updated and be searching for your next job. ALWAYS!
"Their are more than just layoffs on the way, The meetings at Gannett HQ that have been on going for over a month is not just to put a layoff plan in place. Make sure you try the fish.
What is up with the National Sales team? Colleen Brewer left a few weeks ago to become VP of Sales with Cox for their Austin, TX paper and now two more people are jumping ship to follow her to the Lone Star state. How many more people can they afford to lose?
Re:3:35. Who followed Colleen to Austin?
Glad I escaped the madness, but my heart goes out to all in Gannett-land.
Rimshot, Ok so guess you know i am not a professional writer like you, however I am correct about what I posted. And what kind of fish:)
2:04The grammar geek /police are back !How many times to you have to read this.Posts here are written quickly and not proof read! The posts here are for content and not to be judged by snob writers.
I am just so excited about "the big news". It's just like Christmas- I wish it was thursday already! It MUST be something good, right? I mean if so many important people have been working four hours a day at least three days a week for almost a month on this- It must be something that will benefit everybody in a positive way.
It's the end of the 3rd quarter. Of course an announcement should be expected. Like furloughs, layoffs, armageddon...
Hey, speaking of the end of 3rd quarter, I'm sending Jim a few bucks. You should too.
Don't tell us what we should do, 10:36. If you want to waste your money, that's your problem.
Oh bother, big wigs coming to visit next week. What a waste of time, but the building is being cleaned up nicely.
The only thing that would make sense at usa today, based on prior posts, is some pruning of management positions. Either give them some real work, such as helping overworked assignment editors, or convert them to content producers. Please!
That would make way too much sense,9:44. Never happen.
Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
