Reno | On Metromix, who's been really naughty?

[Papal indulgence: Reno's Santa "Pub Crawl" slideshow]

Holidays bring out all those eye-popping Metromix photos of revelers in costumes, with the more scantily clad pix getting the most traffic. Now, for the second year in a row, Gannett's newspaper in Reno, Nev., has delivered some of the most outrageous goods for a holiday slideshow. This photo (above) was submitted to the Gazette-Journal by one of the paper's readers.

The caption: "Decked out for the Santa Pub Crawl: We're pretty sure Pope Santa was a fairly distinctive choice." Uh, yes.

Which Metromix holiday photo would you nominate? Please post your replies in the comments section, below. To e-mail confidentially, write jimhopkins[at]gmail[dot-com]; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the rail, upper right.

  2. nice... what happen to reporting local news. The RGJ does a poor job of reporting local news. So they have to post theses photos; I guess Sex sales.. Another example of the publisher drinking the KOOL Aid. I know because if Corporate says bark like a dog he'll bark like a dog... Still a nice photo.

  4. BFD. It's Metromix. It's a site about nightlife and bars. Those of you who think you're going there to get news are just stupidly complaining. You don't go to McDonald's expecting to get steak, do ya?

  6. You all are a bunch of prudes. First of all, that's not a newspaper site. Second of all, there is nothing outragous about those photos. Holy shit! Cleavage!

  7. Those of you who say it's not a news site have probably never visited the Reno Gazette-Journal's main news page. It is true that Metromix appears to be an entertainment site, but photo galleries of scantily clad girls are routinely given top placement on RGJ.com, the main site for the newspaper.

You might see an expose on the Nevada governor's latest escapades, including sex scandals, promoted right next to a gallery of bikini babes. I would say things like that undermine the newspaper's credibility, but that assumes it still has some.

  8. I said Metromix is not a news site. I didn't say anything about the Reno Gazette-Journal. Metromix is a nightlife & entertainment site and it fulfills that purpose.

If you want to have a discussion on the merits of placement on the R G-J site, then maybe Jim can set that up, but don't twist what people are saying to fit your own argument.
