Traffic report: Where are Gannett Blog's readers?

The District of Columbia -- about 12 miles from the headquarters of Gannett and USA Today -- leads a list that roughly reflects where readers work. That's based on a new Google Analytics report for the past 30 days' traffic.

  1. How accurate are the Google Analytics numbers, do you think? I ask because I use a different tracking site for my blog, and I have found that they will log visits from towns that are anywhere from 10 miles to 200 miles away that from the time and duration I know were my own log-ins.

  2. I think they're all guesstimates, at best. In addition to Google Analytics, I use StatCounter and Site Meter. They all produce different numbers -- but the trends up/down/flat) are generally the same.
