I asked Gannett Blog readers if they feel pressure to work without getting paid. The poll isn't scientific, of course. But it does give a snapshot of what some employees are thinking. Based on 66 responses this week, the breakdown:
- Yes: 69%
- No: 30%

Since this is just a yes or no question, I wonder if it best reflects responses of staffers who get paid hourly and feel they need to work unpaid hours or would some salaried managers be weighing in here regarding pressure to work even longer hours than they used to without receiving any extra compensation.
ReplyDeleteI hope it reflects both employee groups. But I see your good point. I'd consider surveying on this topic again in the future if someone wants to suggest a differently worded question.
