Commentz Korner: Brevard's smokin' holidaze

Christmas has come early for Gannett Blog readers, courtesy of Florida Today at Brevard. It's offering a two-fer: a holiday-inspired bit of reader interactivity for my blog's Holidaze feature -- and an item for Commentz Korner. I'm dizzy with excitement!

The paper is asking readers to share their Christmas traditions in a new forum on its website. Mind you, the paper is smack in the middle of conservative Brevard County. (Doesn't retired Gannett CEO Al Neuharth practically live across the street from the paper?) Well, along comes a reader named kyasskicker, snapping to attention long enough to scribble this comment about his Christmas tradition:

"Probably smoke a big fat doobie on the beach Christmas morning, so relaxing. Man made beer and God made POT, so have no fear, so darn forgot the rest. Short term memory loss."

Indeed! And that reader will no doubt be listening to Cheech and Chong's Santa Claus and his Old Lady -- or watching it on YouTube:

Got an offensive or just-plain-crazy comment that made it past your Gannett site's filters? Use this link to e-mail suggestions. See Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the sidebar, upper right. Or leave a note in the comments section, below. (I read and approve all comments before they get published!)

  1. Yes, it is politically conservative -- but also the surfing capital of the East Coast. Half the residents are retired NASA engineers, the other half are surf bums. The doobie smoker could have been either. ;-)

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
