Monday Recap: Dubow's pay is getting transformed!

Posts you might have missed last week, while The New York Times discovered Gannett Blog:
  • A thousand cuts: We wondered why Gannett took such an anxiety-provoking route to a looming 10% layoff.
  • I went postal! Trying to boost subscription sales, I rented a post box for readers who don't like shopping online.
  • Feeling your pain? CEO Craig Dubow took a $200,000 pay cut, but some employees demanded more.

Some cold, hard cash is coming to a PO box near you, but I had another idea.

What if, along with the money, I included an actual hard copy of my Gannett-owned newspaper? If enough of us did this you'd get a collection of all Gannett papers. Not that'd the collection would be worth much, but you could critique papers as they came in, look for what one paper is doing right, highlight some good writing, look for themes or patterns among Gannett papers, etc.

    You up for it?

  3. Poor ole Craig taking a $200,000 dollar pay cut. That amounts to 2.3% of his total $7.5 million compensation. He's laying the ground for company-wide salary rollbacks.
