From two reader e-mails: GCI is closing Channel 2, KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff, Ariz. -- perhaps the smallest of the broadcasting division's 23 stations -- after the NBC affiliate's last newscast, Aug. 15, because of poor advertising sales. "KNAZ's news, production and advertising sales departments will cease operations on that date,'' one reader says.The outlet has been owned for 10 years by Gannett's Phoenix station, KPNX-TV, the reader says, adding: "All of the laid-off employees are eligible for severance packages and can apply for open positions at KPNX and at Gannett's other TV stations."
Flagstaff is two hours north of Phoenix. KPNX also is an NBC affiliate.
