Brides Inc. | To sir, with love -- via USA Today

[USAT advertiser's client, right, on tour in undisclosed city]

USA Today's puny ad count is all the more noteworthy when you consider the quality of some of its advertisers. There are colon cleaners, gold bug appeals, and lightning-quick dental implants. And then there's mail-order-bride and "romance tour" operator A Foreign Affair (www.loveme.com). Its classified-sized ad appears today on page 5 of the Money section. "30,000+ Russian, Latin, Asian singles,'' it promises. "Instant contact! Singles tours. Free catalog. Video!"

  1. And those advertisers probably got a reduced rate to have their published!

    Flagship newspaper, too. Blech!

  2. Wonder if it has anything to do with this Asbury Park Press classified: http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=PluckForum&plckForumPage=ForumDiscussion&plckDiscussionId=Cat%3a8102aed7-97a4-408a-8753-33bcb905c086Forum%3a73a63969-f351-4dee-ae08-0f0eb5b159ccDiscussion%3a99d2aa36-e97d-4b4c-a831-3ae28e1aea10

  3. You would take those paying advertisers in a heartbeat! And you'd give them big discounts as well.
