Phoenix | Simmering Arizona moms told to chill; tensions high as 'Hot Dads' sweeps results delayed!

Maybe Jimmy Carter should have been enlisted to oversee the polling.

"WHO WON THE 'HOT DADS' CONTEST??" reader jillypi shouted this morning on The Arizona Republic's Moms Like Me site. "SO, I'M DYING TO KNOW WHO WON!"

"Me too!" reader A1021 chimed in, minutes later. "We are supposed to find out today!"

The questions came fast and furious from other moms: Did anyone get a phone call, notifying them their nominee had won the big-screen TV, or that leather recliner? Were the results in anyone's private message box? Details, please!

Finally, just as we couldn't bear the tension any longer, site Editor Yvette Armendariz broke her silence early this afternoon. "I'm sorry," she wrote. "The winner has yet to be announced. We hope to announce by the end of the week. I apologize for the inconvenience."

What???!!!

    Meanwhile, The New York Times has just identified the bureau chief for its first new national bureau in decades, the soon-to-open Phoenix office.
