A reader tells me in an e-mail:
"Today, 27 people were laid off -- out of a staff of 200 -- at Gannett Healthcare Group, the former Nursing Spectrum subsidiary. Most were from editorial and advertising services. Plus, we will be taking our first week-long furlough, and most full-time hourly employees will have their hours cut from 40 to 35. (But they may be exempt from the furlough.)"
Gannett Healthcare produces trade magazines such as Nursing Spectrum, plus websites and educational materials for nurses and other health professionals. Its offices are in Falls Church, Va.; near Chicago, in Hoffman Estates, Ill., and in Silicon Valley's San Jose.
Layoffs now exceed 200
The 27 healthcare cuts bring to at least 207 the total number of employees Gannett has laid off, in a new round of job eliminations that apparently began Monday. That total is based on a running count by Gannett Blog readers, as well as publisher's memos and published accounts. Is your worksite represented?

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

The number you are looking for is 1,028, the number of layoffs between March and June.
