It was Dec. 4, 2005 -- only weeks after CEO Craig Dubow and his wife had officially launched the Craig A. and Denise W. Dubow Endowed Scholarship Fund. Our favorite philanthropists from 22066 were on the guest list for a red carpet White House event: the Kennedy Center Honors, which that Sunday evening were going to yet another motley crew. Still, as I scanned the guest roster, wondering which Nobel laureate or Rhodes scholar would be listed with the Dubows, I wasn't quite prepared for:

Bo Derek! Plus, once more, Gannett didn't even get public relations credit; note Dubow's incorrect corporate affiliation.
Bush vs. Tina
President Bush, introducing honoree Tina Turner, is quoted saying: "Tina Turner's life began in Tennessee in a town called Nutbush. (Laughter.) I've never been there, but -- (laughter) -- I've passed a few sign wavers who apparently want me to know about it."
(Confidential to all: This fabulous post is another in a series brought to you by the growing number of laid-off workers in the secret world of Gannett Blog. It turns out that more than a few of them have some very interesting company documents to share.)

The issue of Bo Derek being a trustee of the Kennedy Center Honors requires a blog far greater than anything you're created here, Jim.
ReplyDeleteWhere does one even begin? Just give up. :)
You don't get the interns' attention as CEO of a Gannett, whatever that is.
ReplyDeleteBut in charge of broadcast of CBS? Let me get you a ceegar, Meester Dubooow.
(Favorite Phil-Hartman-as-Bill-Clinton line: "There's going to be a lot of things we don't tell Mrs. Clinton..."
wow, Tina Turner looks hot for 200 years old.
