I think the Courier-Post people should visit where the creative services department used to be and see the gorgeous huge flat screen monitor on the wall above the brand new whiteboard.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure this new area will be as wise an investment toward our bottom line as Impulse, Nuestra Communidad and the person whose job it is to teach reporters how to use Facebook and Twitter.
Maybe someone can tell us what this new flat screen monitor is to be used for?! Maybe it will be a new "lounge" for the retail sales folks so they can plan their lunch menus and gossip in a more relaxed and comfortable manner. It's apparent that most of these people including the "management" are going to continue to be pampered and not held accountable and not required to produce to cover their costs (salaries, benefits, etc).
ReplyDeleteAs an ex C.P. Retail employee I have to say that whoever is blogging about the Retail Dept. is so accurate & dead-on that's it scary! It's such a shame Walt Lafferty can't see & hear what you are. If he did maybe the so-called "Sales Team" would be more interested in selling ads than ordering lunch.
ReplyDeleteI use to love my job & selling was fun! Leave it to Gannett & their creative management to destroy that entusiasm.
So whoever you are keep blogging! I love you're honesty!!
P.S. Let us know waht the Big Screen is for. I can't wait to hear.
there's alot more fat they
ReplyDeletecould cut from the CP.
its only a matter of time.
Dear 1:20 PM, former C-P retail employee...of course the comments made by 11;20 PM are dead on because everything said is completely the truth. That department is a disgrace! been watching this for years. There continue to be people they keep around who are useless and do little if anything. Most disgutsting is the "management team" that the director hired and keeps on board because they are dumber than she is and will march to her beat to cover her rearend. Everyone in our building has watched this circus for years and wonder who has pictures of who that allows this to keep on going. If anyone else in the building spent great amojunts of time doing personal stuff and wasting time like they do in that dept they would be gone very fast. Some of the hangers-on in this departmnt must have someting on someone to get away with what they do (which ain't much). Everyone else in our paper must produce and provide a return on the investment the company makes in them. Not in the advert depart! I could list the names of the great many losers they've got there but everyone knows who they are but yet it keeps going. Cleaning house there would be a major morale booster at our paper as long as they get rid of the AD, the drone phoney "mgrs" and the hangers-on. Yes, can someone explain why the expensive monitor?? Can't wait to hear this.
ReplyDeletethe art dept at the CP is the
ReplyDeletesame way. lots of useless people.

ReplyDeleteLet me guess, you are night-side.
Who needs Skippy to f up the CP. The mess is there and will be without him. And yes, the CP art dept is another one! Look who's running it and who he reports to.
