  1. Re-posting from a previous thread:

Anyone see the new USA TODAY television commercials? The Brennan spot is definitely the best, but that's not saying much since the other two are awful. Sorry to see the great Susan Page made to look so foolish. Damn ad doesn't even make any sense.

And why use a hockey reference to mock Steroid use? Don't we all know steroids have been rampant in BASEBALL....not HOCKEY. Who the hell thinks these things up? Didn't Brennan tell these people that the hockey reference makes no sense? She might be the only one involved in these spots that actually watches sports.

  2. I think you should talk about the extreme roll-over on USCP national sales team.

  3. Here's the problem....

    1. They have nothing to sell.

    2. There is absolutely no leadership with a vision of how and what needs to be sold. Doesn't sales report up to the CMO? There's your problem. It's been the problem from the beginning, but Gracia doesn't understand that the CMO has no clue how to do marketing or sales.

    3. People hate to work for the senior leadership at this company (with the exception of about one or two people). Why are they turning over their staff? People leave when they discover that the people they work for are incompetent.

    1. Isn't that the truth. It's sad - you're told one day that you are doing this - then that - then this. It's never consistent and the mgmt. will not make a decision. I know of several people who walked out because it was so unbearable. Walked out with no jobs to go to. That's sick.

  6. once again usa today is shilling christine brennan as one of its very own when she's just one of the hired help -- Brennan now is an award-winning sports columnist for USA Today, an on-air commentator for ABC News, CNN, PBS NewsHour, NPR and Fox Sports radio and the author of seven books, including the national best-seller Inside Edge. Brennan has covered the last 15 Olympic Games, Winter and Summer, beginning with the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

    3. Surely our eagle-eyed professional journalists immediately spotted this as a fake. The robotic machine-generated blurb is a giveaway, quickly confirmed by a glance at the "agency's" web site.

    4. ha ha ha. we do not have any eagle-eyes professional journalists. what we have is a self-serving cmo with her own personal agenda. machine-generated or not, just make a call to the agency and they will confirm they represent and book her. nice try, sandy. now shouldn't you be working at 11:58 am or is this your lunch hour?

    5. Murcko is trying to make things happen. Banikarim just gets in the way. She contributes absolutely nothing to the sales or marketing process. Time to go.

    3. 10:40 and 10:42 ... and how important is your job that you can whine about others' thoughts on the functionality and quality of the company's products?
Oh, the URL is "wrong" even though it gets you to the site you were directed to?
Tell me all about what an IT wizard you are.

    4. Important enough that I know how Web sites work, unlike you and others who post here.

The redirect is sort of a technicality, as long as the site owner keeps it active.

The context was that once again, people here were claiming sites were down when they weren't. User error being the likely cause.

Also, who has so much time that they try a site, then run here to announce it doesn't work? You do realize this happens on occasion with every site, right? Right? No, probably not.

  17. Can someone Please tell me what the heck is going on with the Journal News--White Plains, NY ??
To start this was a Newspaper that had over 3,000 Employees--
    Now 216.
I also have heard from extremely reliable sources...( the poor souls that are still there)--That certain present employees are in charge of an outside group delivering the weekly freebies??
Simply put why would this horrid excuse for a daily newspaper still have a freebie?

  18. Today was a bad day for Gannett Bloggeteers. They can't get Web sites to load. They don't understand how national politics affects the stock market. They don't know when important company information is released.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
