In a statement this morning, Corporate named Elliott Wiser general manager of WTSP in Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla., where he succeeds Ken Tonning, who is retiring after 38 years with Gannett.

Are there no reactions to the change in management at one of Gannett's largest broadcast properties? I read an article earlier today suggesting the Belo merger will cause Wall Street to view Gannett as a broadcast and new media company rather than a newspaper company. If that is becoming the case, this blog needs to retrench and begin focusing far less on Gannett's past and far more on its future.
