  1. May 24: The Wisconsin State Patrol said northbound traffic on U.S. Highway 41 is backed up for three miles due to a crash at Ninth Avenue in Oshkosh that is affecting all lanes of traffic.

Oshkosh Northwestern Media will update this story when more information is available.

    Still no update.

    2. Here in Fruitland, Maryland, we've give up on the Salisbury newspaper's web site. The thing is now littered with national news videos and incredibly poorly produced videos from reporters who can barely write let alone play television stars. The videos are awful and loaded with canned national ads, There is no advertising of any local interest. We would enjoy simple news updates and to get that we have to go to the local TV stations' sites, who, for some reason, don't have much video but comparatively well written news stories.

    3. I could substitute my site in Wisconsin for exactly what you wrote. It's really sad, they run a string of national videos, like anyone would watch any/all of them, and not much else on the top of the homepage.

Is "Give it to me local" just a big joke?

  2. Cheers to the Cincinnati Enquirer for bringing yet another act of voter fraud (this one by a long-time poll worker who did it for years) to light.

    1. Poorly written story. I hope that is not typical fare for the Inquirer.

  4. At one of the local papers located in the Western division. I know of businesses in the area that refuse to advertise in the paper. It has got nothing to do with the economy or declining circulation those are both doing fine here.
They simply don't like way the paper has changed the way it operates since going to a private distributor to handle all single copy. Also many racks in the area have been removed that were decent sellers prior to the move. Another thing that reflects poorly on the paper is only issuing a credit when a paper is not delivered. It shows a company in decline when they can't even get a paper delivered that day.

    1. When GPS was formed President Evan Ray said Its mission, includes standardizing operations across facilities as well as eliminating redundancies and inefficient procedures. That is the problem that they looked at all sites as being the same and think they should be operated the same way. There is no accounting for differences in local markets.

    2. He also said in an article from News and Tech,"We believe there is a significant opportunity to grow revenue." That was from October 24th 2011. Where is all that new revenue he said GPS had the opportunity to create?

  5. At my local paper which is in the Western division our top management is definitely taking Invisible Person Meds and also takes Intimidation Management pills. Only time you see this person is because you've been called into the principal's office. Has this person bothered to wonder the building just to say hi!

  7. The national press barely even mentions the assault on the first amendment and what is now NOT the free press.
Their very lively hood, careers, everything they supposedly believe in to the core is being assaulted.
And still no investigative journalism. What will it take?

    1. Completely wrong. There have been streams of editorials and several reports about alleged monitoring.

As usual, you have no facts. But that doesn't stop you from posting -- poorly, as always.

  10. 7:01 What a comment do you have any other more relevant and worthwhile comments or is that it?

  11. I agree with 7:01 am. Only they are being far too generous.

And 1:22 pm: they offered something much more specific than did you!

  12. I agree with 1:22 it has become obvious to any one that regular reads the blog that this blog has enemies that work for Gannett. If this blog didn't exist they would have nothing to do all day.

    2. What a silly comment. So if I disagree with your opinion I'm a paid "enemy?" Sorry but I just call out silly when I see it and no one pays me

  13. 5:29 is operating from a delusion -- that anyone who disagrees is paid to disagree and that someone, somewhere agrees with what he is saying.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
