Well, none other than a house ad on Page 3B of today's USA Today, according to one of my readers. Can that be possible? [Updated at 1:10 p.m. ET to correct that my reader is talking about full-page ads, not ads of any size.]

I saw half page dishwasher ad, couple of small ads. It is that skinny time of year, & the"cliff" worries couldn't have helped. But, Damn!!
ReplyDeleteSame here, the period from just before Christmas until the first full week into the New Year is dead zone for USAT. No business travel means no hotel copies. People stay inside due to cold weather/snow and don't venture out to buy. It's been that way for my 12 years at USAT.
ReplyDeleteYeah, right. Nobody travels in December. What idiot planet are you sitting on?
DeleteWell, there is the Super Bowl to look forward to, ad wise. Even Beusse will be able to sell some for a change.
ReplyDeleteBetter said, even Beusse's team can renew at least some of what the USAT traditional sales staff has brought in every year. Whether Beusse brings in anything new and above&beyond that, which can be counted as sales that the regular staff couldn't ever do....well, good luck.
DeleteNo news, either. Just a series of stupid Gallup polls.
ReplyDeleteSMG brings in little that the traditional sales team didn't already get in the past. Zero incremental revenue and HUGE incremental overhead. McIntyre and Skelton did what they are doing with just two people!
ReplyDeleteOn the positive side...USAT is set to have a good Q1 as revenue is outpacing same period in 2012.
