Payne on whether USA Today will erect a paywall

"The current plan is to stay with an

-- Chief Digital Officer David Payne, speaking to MediaPost for a recent story about USA Today's plans for mobile devices. Much of the rest of Gannett's newspapers are now switching to paywalls.

  2. He does PR, which is the primary requirement of any SVP or C-fillinpositionhere-O.

    Any competence in the actual job is strictly coincidental, and based almost entirely on lower-level employees.

  3. Makes sense. Local news is valuable but national/world /entertainment/sports news aggregators are a dime-a-dozen. Even my fridge can post RSS feeds.
