Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

Can the Indiana Department of Labor - or some state agency be contacted to issue a citation or fine the Star? This is beyond the pale.
ReplyDeleteGreat comment, 12:20. Of course, you will just wait for someone else to do that. Typical.
ReplyDeleteThis is why journalists will always lose these battles. If they had filed complaints when this kind of thing started, there'd be an established pattern and a paper trail. Instead, we just have a bunch of cowards whining anonymously at a Web site.
Nothing will ever change that way.
Too true, 1:07. Look at how long Gannett folks have been willing to work for free instead of getting overtime.
ReplyDeleteA new HR person made a mistake. Too many folks here act like vultures pecking apart an injured animal. They made a mistake, they corrected the error, what you never made a mistake? Bad timing? Yes. Poor process? Yes. Serious issue? Yes. But geez people it was a mistake. Do we have to beat the ceap out of colleagues every time there is a new topic? We've had a Corrections area in every newspaper since the dawn of the industry. It's not like we've never made mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI'm researching a longer post about a related, broader subject.

ReplyDeleteUh, Jim, why was the post about HR making similar mistakes deleted?
ReplyDeleteYou are really puzzling with some of your decisions.
Mistakes? Or maybe a new health plan in the offing is what Jim's "broader subject." Wasn't it about this time last year that rumors circulated about Hewitt being dropped. Be prepared: I wonder if more cuts in health coverage coming. Must be a bad Q3 report coming, too.
ReplyDeleteBig cuts in health care for sure. That's a no brainer. Costs are escallating and have to be paid for some how. It's gonna be gutted to the bone.
