Gannett shares closed at $14.49 moments ago, up 33 cents, or 2.3%, as stocks overall rallied in the face of mixed data on jobs, retail sales and consumer lending. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 121 points, up 1.2%, to 10,139. The S&P 500 index was up about 1%.
Over the past five days, GCI has climbed about 9% -- better than the S&P's 4%, according to Google Finance.
