After closing Gannett Blog in July 2009, I've begun experimenting with a possible relaunch, in conjunction with two, new media blogs that I started publishing last week on a trial basis. Those new blogs are here and here. Their future depends on how much traffic they get in the months ahead. Please stay tuned.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

These are great, Jim. You might think about rolling them all into one indusry blog so you can get a critical mass of visits and be able to "monetize".
ReplyDeleteMy job position was eliminated Friday, October 22, 2010, after 33 years employment at the same newspaper site, same department.
ReplyDeleteI started reading the Blog in 2008 when the Publisher first told our Ad Services department about 2Adpro, and I wanted to research more about this, so a Google search directed me to the Blog. Now, as someone no longer employed in the "Ad Circus" department, I am reading it again.
I am glad it is "cleaner", more focused purely on Gannett news, less distracting with YouTube videos of old movies or TV shows in the side, no references to Jim's partner, or vivid colored eyeglasses, or Ibiza club hoppers, and no unnecessary personal rude comments about Jim.
THANKS JIM, for starting it up again! I only found out in casual conversation at my newspaper as I was exiting that the Blog had returned, so I am currently opening every single post from October all the way back to the beginning!

Thank you, Peter. And you have my condolences over your job loss.
