From a comment I just posted. (Here's the full text.)
Unlike other bloggers who have come and gone, he has stuck with his site for seven months, with no encouragement from me until just recently. And he did so, even as he was attacked early on by Gannett Blog readers who compared him unfavorably to me.
Although I'm moving on, I believe more than ever that employees and other Gannett stakeholders will need a forum where they can share information freely, without fear of management reprisal. The expected early-July layoff won't be the last.
This is the first of several friendly advisories: Under my agreement with Gannettoid's publisher, I am shutting down Gannett Blog on July 10 -- three weeks from this Friday.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
