Layoffs | What one manager told Gannettoid

This was posted Monday: "As a manager who has been asked to make cuts," they wrote, "I can say that I've been told July 8 is the day. I don't know the numbers overall, but it's big at my site, I think above 10%."

The poster then reports additional, important details on when names went to Corporate. To read more, check out the full post.

Please support Gannettoid. It's my recommended successor site for Gannett Blog, which I'm closing permanently on July 10. It will be your best source for layoff and other GCI-related news.

  2. While I'll miss this blog very much, ( and all the work put into it is greatly appreciated)...I believe we can we well-served at Gannettoid too.

A little different format, but we'll get use to it soon.

  3. I hate the Gannettoid format. Jim, you had a ton of updates after the TV station announced salary cuts. There, a paragraph with links to the forum. You did a lot more sniffing for substance.

  4. All this insider information is garbage - I know for a fact that this layoff hype is just that. Gannett is planning something entirely different than layoffs for the remainder of the year, which will be announced on July 2nd.

I know this because I am the architect of this new plan -

  5. Not to be argumentative, and I truly hope you are the person in the right in this instance. But, if all of this layoff talk is truly "garbage", how can we ensure your comment is not of the like? What can we expect? I know everyone in my market is quite fearful of a rumored 15-21% reduction.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
