  1. A few observations:

    1. Why the fuck would this person report into the Chief Bean Counter? Clearly Gracia Martore is running this company. I also heard that Content One reports into Gracia "the knife" Martore. Shows you where this company is going.

    2. Now I know why Tara Connell was not good at this job...she wasn't qualified for it!

    3. I never saw the job description for Tara Connell's current job in Content One, was that ever posted?

    4. What qualifies Gracia Martore to be in charge of such an "important" division?

    5. This department is about 18 people deep and we still do not know what they do.

    6. I did not see anything in the description that talks about learning how to "avoid the blogger"!

Bottomline, this job is a waste and should not report into the CFO. Gannett is screwed up!

  2. Maybe Kate Marymont will apply for this job. It obviously out-ranks Marymont's VP/News job, and apparently is a route to the top.

  3. Kudos, 7:39. Am glad to see someone else sees how worthless Connell and Martore really are.

  4. I am amazed that someone who was occupying THAT job is now the head of Content One!!!

Am I crazy? Why aren't editors kicking and screaming right now?

We are going to take direction from a corporate loser like Connell!

The fact that this all reports to the bean counter is even more appalling.

  5. Craig Moon told a few of us at USAT that his decision to leave was based mostly on this company being driven into the ground by Dubow. He made many references to Tara Connell and Gracia Martore being very two-faced and both incompetent at what they do.

We will all miss Moon. He tells it like it is.

  7. Very important and key position. I'd pay $250,000 plus MBO of cash and some stock. Why are people so angry??

  8. 9:05 Moon didn't make a decision to leave. The decision was made for him by Craig Dubow. He's only 52 or so, and needed the job to last a few more years to get to retirement, but he failed to produce what corporate wanted.

  9. Is Chap Stick (and Valtrex) included?

  10. 11:19, please check your facts before spouting off. Craig was 59, fully eligible for retirement. It was his decision to leave.

  11. It would not surprise me if Steven Anderson, USAT main pr flank, is hired to replaced Tara.

  12. Tara Connell has been a disappointment as a human being and as a person in power. She has abandoned friends and principles over the years. And I say this as a former friend who respected her work at one time. Tara needs to take a good look in the mirror and get back to helping people, standing up for certain causes and get rid of the corporate veneer. There are a lot of little things she can do to improve her status in the cosmos. But if she isn't going to reach out and prove she can be trusted, ContentOne will be a failure. Ultimately, she will be a failure as a human being.

  13. No question in my mind that this Content One thing will fail miserably. It has no backing from anyone at a senior level and her arrogance will get her in trouble with many people.

This will be Craig Dubow's biggest mistake. Wasting time will this crap when the rest of the company is failing miserably.

  14. Hey 7:56 - Steve Anderson left the company ages ago. And 8:46 is absolutely right. I wouldn't be at all surprised if upper management has figured her out by now, and is setting her up to fail. Why else would they place someone far more competent than Tara (Jennifer Carroll) into a co-VP position with Content One? Think about it.
