Lesson No. 1: When you change your relationship status on Facebook, a note goes out to a bunch of people. And when you do it on Valentine's Day Eve, people notice!
Lesson No. 2: Master lesson No. 1 before you do it, so you don't wind up repeating in public a note I just sent to one of my concerned Facebook correspondents:
I'm totally embarrassed to admit that I never updated my Facebook profile after I started using it for Gannett Blog. (I opened a FB account for a USA Today story several years ago, but then didn't start using it again until recently.)
Yesterday, I discovered I never got around to withdrawing, correcting, amending, etc., personal information that doesn't need to be out in Cyber Wonderland. See you back on Earth!

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
