Louisville: Not your father's Metromix photos

[Unidentified guest: Static/Major Pre Grammy Party]

The Courier-Journal's Metromix site has some major diversity going on, according to photo slideshows I've just reviewed here, here, here and here. A reader posted them in response to a comment I wrote on a Valentine's Day post:

"Diversity hasn't come to Metromix photo galleries," I said. Judging only by slideshows, you'd think Gannett communities were all:
  • Young
  • Always HWP
  • Female
  • White

How often do any editors say: "This Friday night, make sure you include black/hispanic/Asian people?

  1. Here's my comment: You can plug one Metromix in for another throughout the entire country. It's like they go to one Hooters, wait for people to get drunk, and start snapping. I thought that's what Facebook was for. Total waste of time, IMO. Kids aren't stupid, and they know when someone is pandering for site visits. Hope it goes down in flames.

  3. 3:20, the CJ's MetroMix photo galleries receive more page views than any of their other photo galleries - well over 1 million views per month. The kids may know we're panding for views, but that's not stopping them from viewing.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
