Des Moines: Wrestling bull's eye marks the spot

High school athlete Eyasu Russell grapples with Keegan Mumma during the first round of the Class 2-A state wrestling tournament yesterday, The Des Moines Register says in its wall-to-wall coverage today. Photo by Christopher Gannon, Register, via Newseum.

"That is an awesome photo,'' says Anonymous@2:09 p.m., "but you'd have to run it HUGE."

Jim Hopkins says: Looks pretty big to me, in this highly readable view on the Newseum's website.

The Register also is offering a clever way for high schools to show support -- a wrestling fan map built off Google's mapping program. "Show us that your school has the best fans!" the paper says. "Add a shoutout for your team and watch your school's icon grow."

  2. thank you for posting this. with all the talk of corporate stupidity and everything that's going wrong these days it's nice to showcase some of the GOOD WORK people are doing.

This is the best example of why people are so upset now. Cuts and furloughs and layoffs and buyouts.

This sort of good work is what is bound to suffer.

Great job, Des Moines. You always have been a shining light in the darkness that is Gannett.
