Someone's finally started another GCI-related blog!

Now, this isn't exactly what I contemplated when I urged employees to start more blogs about Gannett, in this post -- but it's a start! (And, oddly, I find this very flattering!)

The site's anonymous author said yesterday in an introductory post: "This is the new gannettblogsucks blog. Why? Why not. There needs to be a place where the nonsense on Gannett Blog can be discussed and, when appropriate, mocked. Enjoy."

  1. You should find it flattering! Someone very wise once said that hate is the closest thing to love there is. It had something to do with the intensity being equal. I will definitely check gannettblogsucks frequently!

  2. When Tipper Gore railed against the music world, the filty-mouthed artists loaded their pockets with dead presidents as their sales spiked.

I bet Romenesko does a story on the faux site.

    Which will drive traffic...to here.

  3. Not my taste ... I dislike posers.

  5. The guy is obviously whacked in the head but, hey, never miss a chance to mock someone not up to your standards in writing. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. FLATTERY! "The statement the new Gannett blog said about me." WHO SAID I AM A GUY. (I won't answer that). Just remember, my whole relationship, with Gannett was started to get money for medical care for injuries suffer, from a failed murder attempted. So person, who obviously is afraid of Jim's blog your satire does nothing to me. I let you know Jim when I fine out who this person is.

  6. Gannettblogsucks blogger - your time would be better spent working on your resume. Leave Jim alone. I love people who keep claiming to hate this blog and yet, they post more often than the rest of us. Hmmm. Try having an original idea, like, say, a saveournewspapers blog.

  7. Ironically, gannettblogsucks also sucks.

  8. In typical Gannett fashion, Gannettblogsucks attempts to copy others, is late to market, provides nothing new, and will spend most of its time trying to tell people only what they deem worthy for them to hear. Their aggressive attempt to attract GannettBlog’s audience to build theirs is particularly funny.

Jim’s audience overwhelmingly speaks their minds about the company, good and bad – it’s their choice. Yet, Gannettblogsucks will apparently try to reshape the many truths that have been bared here.

    Well, good luck with that.

  9. …besides, all trust Jim’s promise to protect their anonymity and it’s likely that no one will trust Gannettblogsucks to do the same, especially given their motives.

  10. Unfortunately the "sucks" blog is completely devoid of any meaningful content. The only positive thing I can say about it - it follows the Gannett Marketing 101 rule of calling a product exactly what it is - the Sucks blog is true to it's name - it sucks. It’s a blog complaining about a blog and in a very weak and poorly written fashion. Congrats Jim. Having any blog spring up to complain about your blog (even a crappy one like this lame-o) is a milestone to be proud.

  11. Gannettblogsucks could be the most ineloquent and and childish attack on a blog I've ever seen. I can't get past the punctuation errors long enough to read it ... and as 11:01 said, it doesn't actually have any meaningful content!

Blech. People can say what they want about Gannett Blog, but Jim makes a genuine, journalistic attempt to gather real information for his readers. And he SUCCEEDS. Name-calling does not an adult retort make.

  14. I love the quasi-Texaco logo of gannettblogsucks! How original! How do you spell T-r-a-d-e-M-a-r-k-I-n-f-r-i-n-g-e-m-e-n-t?

Oh, look! Morons-R-Us has opened yet another location!

  16. Don't go to the sucks site unless you want to be outed. The site was started by an HR consultant hired by the newly created Gannett Corrections Corp. to study inmate dissension. Visitors and posters will be traced back to the computers in their cells, and the information collected will be provided to the warden's office for appropriate measures.

  17. 3:15 pm: You and all the other whiners here should at least get your newly created department names right:

Corrections, pish! That department is actually called the National Shared Centers of Excellence, Division of Employee Re-Education.

You may now return to your Information Centers.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
