Monday Recap: Transforming = booties 'n' buyouts!

Posts you might have missed last week, while Des Moines got all bootylicious:
  • Pink slipped: Gannett laid off, bought out, consolidated -- oh, hell: Everyone got screwed again!
  • You call these profits? Second-quarter earnings dived 36% from a year ago, and shares swooned to 20-year lows.
  • Big footing: The Indianapolis Star got a new publisher from randy Rochester, replacing Babs "Dominatrix" Henry.

  1. Jim, while you're off showing your friends the sights, Gannett stock rose today. Thought you might like to know since I'm sure it won't merit a separate entry as it does every 5 seconds on the days it declines.

  2. anon6:41, you once again prove my point regarding the vast majority of the whiners, complainers and losers who keep this blog well populated. I feel good about myself every day. My self-worth is not based upon any job. Perhaps your small existence is based upon your work and more's the pity because of it.

  3. anon7:31, you had a point? You went after Jim who said his blogging will be light today. I guess you are part of the vast majority of the whiners, complainers and losers who keep this blog well populated.

  4. You are both a bunch of losers.

Jim sucks dick (literally) and all you journalists are screwed. You can't find another job because no one wants wash up journalists.

  5. @6:03 a.m.: My experience shows that only guys with really undersized dicks post homophobic comments like yours. Mostly, though, I'm leaving your comment up so folks can see that you can't spell, either.

  6. While I will reserve the right to disagree with Jim (and others on the blog), as I did here last night, I think the 6:03 a.m. poster is vile and disgusting (and illiterate). Those kinds of comments add nothing to the conversation. I apologize to Jim if my earlier comments led to that response.

  7. Thanks, 7:37 a.m.: It comes with the territory -- although 99.999% of my readers manage to criticize me in ways focused on the subject at hand.

  8. anon6:03 if you hate whiners (and gays and journalists) then why do you look at this blog? You are probably some VP or overpaid jerk or maybe you're a corporate spy?

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
