Regarding my recent item about The Honolulu Advertiser, a reader comments: "As a photojournalist, I'm often puzzled by your selections for Cutlines Only posts. Most times I'm left bewildered, unsure which of these qualities you're tagging to the showcased photo: great photo/illustration, funny photo/illustration, newsworthy photo/illustration."
The reader continues: "Cutlines Only is one of the rare genre of your posts that are very minimal on editorial, explanation, or elaboration. Offering your thoughts beyond a mere caption and byline would be helpful and more engaging to your readership of visuals folks."
My reply: Excellent observations! I have a little professional training in photography, so I can certainly try to offer more insight. But for this feature, I'd rather rely on photo editors -- if I could get them to contribute. Unfortunately, more than five months after publishing the first Cutlines Only feature, I still haven't received a single recommendation. So, for the 37th(!!!) time, I'll repeat my plea:
Cutlines Only showcases Gannett website art. E-mail suggested links here; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the green sidebar, upper right. Or leave a note in the comments section, below.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
