[Three of anything: the formula for summer trend stories]
It's the day after Memorial Day, and we all know what that means: The scramble has begun to fill all those newspapers and TV broadcasts between now and Labor Day -- even though there's no news, and no one to sell advertising. Plus! Good-humored though you may be, there are now fewer employees cranking out more news updates, selling more pre-roll ads, and taking more angry customer calls than ever. (Now, how do those buyouts sound?)

this isn't a trend story, but is anyone out there, besides myself, dreading the high school graduations???? AHHHAHAHAHAHA HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@2:16 p.m.: But it COULD be a trend. How about:
ReplyDelete"More and more high school graduates fear they won't get summer jobs as lifeguards watching for sharks, which means they can't help pay for higher gasoline bills -- likely driving their families even closer to losing their homes to foreclosure because of the mortgage crisis."
Gas prices are up. Less people will come to the Jersey Shore to vacation.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a half dozen stories on this and its not even June. Can't wait to get more voices on this for Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends.
Although, this might be better than another fifteen-day series on the plights of the mentally ill at an institution 60 miles outside of our coverage area.
CHASE THAT RING!
