An independent journal about the Gannett Co. and the news industry's digital transition

And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

We were told the drop off in pageviews was to be expected. And it's happens at all the papers that convert to the new site.
ReplyDeleteNothing to see here. Keep moving.
And a large part of the drop off is because of the Pluck software.
ReplyDeleteThe points may be valid. But, if the company derives revenue from pageviews, then wouldn't declines there also hurt the bottomline, albeit for a brief time as seems to be suggested?
ReplyDeleteFunny, but I don't see Gannett willing to write that off without cutting something else in the short run to pay for it.
Readers just love the ads you have to watch to see a video.
ReplyDeleteAnd there are problems with the new video browser.
From the calls I've made to the other sites that have launched, not all (but a lot) have lost pageviews, and a few got their numbers back up after a few months of adjustment. I know a few sites changed their URLs, which definitely never helps. I'm hopeful some numbers can bounce back after readers adjust. But maybe they won't.
