Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. Hello Elmira Confidential from NJ Confidential. Congratulations on your own category...no more searching through entry after entry for info on your own stuff. We like it, how bout you?
ReplyDeleteDiscussion might have more continuity and the front page might be less cluttered if jim used bulletin board software in addition to blog software.
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout it, Jim?
The Ithaca Journal has some news about the changes today. Doesn't look like Elmira or Binghamton do. Looks like the paper is going to have more news forthcoming.

I hope the paper will not fold up as we ad designers in India depend on you for our daily curry.
ReplyDeleteAt least the Ithaca Journal is attempting to report the changes. Where is the rest of the BIE group on this one?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the news is buried someplace on the terrible Pluck sites and readers can't find it. Wouldn't be the first time.
Rest of BIE group is not reporting on this due to being on FURLOUGH!!
ReplyDeleteTried to access the staff directory on the Star-Gazette web site today (Sunday). Response was that was a "dead" page. Understand copy desk layoffs took place last week and only one accepted transfer to Binghamton.

ReplyDeleteOnly one in Elmira accepted transfer, but there have been no layoffs yet. It's hard to lay off the Elmira and Ithaca desks when there's no semblance of a desk in Binghamton that is capable of paginating three papers.
The two editors who came up with this grand plan in Binghamton are feeling the heat because no one at all was interested in transfering down there. I guess that's what happens when you treat employees like garbage.
Hey, I thought someone said here the other day that they're not mad at workers in Binghamton. So much for that.
