Gannett newspapers from New York to Arizona have a chance to write local angles for the unfolding story about New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer (left) and his ties to a top-dollar prostitution ring. Just head to the Web: Prostitutes long ago discovered they can advertise online, for free. (No need to pay to advertise oriental massage services in the sports pages!) On Craigslist, they advertise in the "erotic services'' section. It took me just a few minutes to turn up hundreds of such ads on Craigslist pages in Gannett communities, including Westchester, N.Y.; Fort Myers, Fla.; Green Bay, Wis., and Phoenix. But talk to your editor first before clicking on any ads; they're definitely NSFW!

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

Have you looked into any of the amazing coverage the Detroit Free Press has done on the Detroit mayor texting scandal that started sometime back in Jan. and continues?
ReplyDeleteI have, indeed! Click on the "Detroit" label in the long list, toward the bottom of the blue sidebar, right, and you should find posts related to what the Free Press did.
