Gannett's CEO, and his $7,546,710 pay package

I know: It's right there, on Craig Dubow's total 2007 compensation line -- in the new proxy report to shareholders. But I also know these grand-total pay figures are often crazy-ass estimates, based on forecasts about where Gannett's stock will go. As the Associated Press says: "The decreasing value of Gannett shares means that a large chunk of Dubow's 2007 compensation is currently without value."

Now, your turn: Got any clues on how to interpret these grand-total pay figures? Use this link to e-mail feedback; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the sidebar, upper right. Or leave a note in the comments section, below.

  1. The marketing whizzes who came up with “we’re all in this together” should have sat on the compensation committee board to apply that thought. Giving fat payouts to the characters who led, and continue to lead this company into the hole really sends the wrong message.

  2. When the retired CEO of the NYSE left he got $150 million. Check out the salary of the oil company CEO's. It may not help, and may not make sense...given the state of the industry and Gannett's cost-cutting focus.

If it weren't him, it would be somebody else. Would Moon really be able to make things that much different?

I hope Sue has a grand party...40 years of sucking and kissing ass.
    Congrats.

  3. $27 a share...do I hear $25. How are the bathrooms in Cherry Hill these days?

  4. After hearing him today say how well he thinks Gannett is positioned for the future and how he thinks newspapers will get back a lot of business they've lost I feel a lot better. Don't you? lol
