Fake Steve Jobs, 'Anonymous' -- and yours truly

Did you like The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs as much after the New York Times unmasked its author this past summer? How about the 1996 bestseller Primary Colors by Anonymous? It flew off bookstore shelves partly because everyone wondered: Whodunit?

I ask because I'm probably going to have a chance to say a whole lot more about who I am in the very near future. But there's a financial risk. Plus, I wonder whether Gannett Blog readers even want to know. Please use this link to e-mail me your thoughts. See Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the sidebar, upper right. Or leave a note in the comments section, below.

  2. Please don't risk your job. Keep blogging by all means, but don't end up being known as the man/woman who was fired by Gannett because of his/her blog.

Plus, I'm having fun denying to people that I write this blog.

  3. As that famous New Yorker cartoon caption said (more or less): On the Internet, no one knows you're a dog.

So, maybe it should be: "Don't end up being known as the man/woman/dog who was fired by Gannett because of his/her/dog blog."

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
