How's it feel to be working the job of three people while getting paid for less than one when compared to other media companies? That's our Gannett.
ReplyDeleteWord just out that Asbury Park Press moving their headquarters.
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be Cleveland. Local Shmokel!

DeleteOld news, scoop. The APP published an article about it after the announcement was made. The old building is a dump in need of serious maintenance and there are vast empty wastelands of the space occupied by former employees. Better to shuck that cost, earn some money from the sale of the highway fronting property and plow it in to the operation. (yes, I am an optimist, although I know it will go to McLean in into the pockets of piggy executives). If we're going to bash GCI, let's not fabricate an issue. Lord knows there is plenty this company does wrong.
DeleteFor those retirees who get their healthcare from Gannett the new rates for 2014 are on the Gannet Benefit website!
ReplyDeleteKevin Manahan left USA Today last month for a better place -- online sports editor of NJ.com, the portal for Advance Publications' New Jersey dailies. He wasted no time in adding reporters to cover the NFL and Rutgers University. Compare that to how Gannett's New Jersey websites are faring.
ReplyDeleteKevin who? Never heard of the guy.
DeleteManahan was NFL editor for USA Today and before that a reporter at the (Advance-owned) Newark Star-Ledger. That info was in the linked article.
DeleteAs a reader of one of the Butterfly sites, I had hoped we might see actual advertising in the paper, not Michael Wolff and Susan Page full page filler. Even if we have to give it away for $2/inch, put some Amish Electric Fireplaces in there.
ReplyDelete8:49: I chatted/called. They said they couldn't provide the cost of my premiums until after the enrollment period was over. Not very helpful.
ReplyDeleteIf you go on he Gannett benefits site and go through the enrollment process it will show you new rate!
DeleteGPS posted GM job for Phoenix ! min. wage i bet !
ReplyDelete2:04 - the new rates are on the site. go to plan options. they are actual lower for retirees next year. I'm confused because they list dental, which I get through COBRA
ReplyDeleteThey are lower because on my plan the deductible was $500 now $1500. So they tripled it!
Delete2:25, there are many errors in your post. The biggest one is: You should say "I'm confused because I spend my days bitching at Gannett Blog."
Deletewhen did you have a $500 deductible with a Gannett plan? Not in this century.
Delete2:25. Thanks. I'll do some more searching.
ReplyDeleteJim, do you watch The Crazy Ones? It seems like your type of show -- an aging douchebag rants incoherently about many different things. He even has an audience of sycophants who kiss his ass -- much like here.
ReplyDeleteThe Crazy Ones is one of the better shows on this season. Robin Williams schtick can get a little tiring but overall it's too good for CBS - it feels like a NBC comedy in the vein of Parks and Rec or 30 Rock.
DeleteMaryam loves it.
DeleteIs it the Craig Dubrow story? The Bob Dickey Chronicles? Those are your sycophants, 11:03. Now go get your $5 from "daddy"

DeleteThe larger question is why not.
ReplyDeleteWill the Purpose Walls get holiday bunting?
ReplyDeleteThe Purpose walls are still searching for a purpose beyond Stupidest Idea of the year. By the way, where is Banikarim's latest On The Road memo?
ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, Kevin Manahan was at the Cherry Hill, NJ Gannett owned Courier-Post newspaper. He did good by going to USAToday and then to the Star-Ledger's nj.com website.
ReplyDeleteI wish him well. along with many other former Courier-Post employees - many of whom were done
wrong by the C-P.
