Can someone tell me what is going on at Usa Today? Beryl Love seems to be hiring like mad. Dave Callaway has shuffled most of the staff from one desk to another. Larry Kramer spends most of his time in New York. Decisions seem to be made in a void. We used to have memos and staff meetings about new hires and staff changes. Why are managers in a communications business so fucking clueless?
Why do you care? You've got a job. Do it!
Were supposed to be playing on the same team. Why all the secretive crap? Or is it just a lack of common sense to tell employees who has been hired and for what job?

All I can say is I'm so grateful I'm married to someone with health insurance because the latest "health insurance" from Gannett is essentially a health savings account. It is going to leave people paying a fortune out of pocket. Should be a crime.
So go to ObamaCare. Why complain. If you can get a better deal take it. Why all the complaining?
Because many of us with families can't afford the new family premiums, but because our individual premiums are affordable our family will not qualify for the ACA as it is written this year...If Gannett cared about its employee's it would have only offered employee insurance and freed the families up to apply for and received tax credits...Thanks Gannett.
This is exactly right. Gannett wants me as an individual to pay $90 bucks a month for their "insurance". If I want to add my spouse, they want me to pay $435 a month. For what? An HSA that will be worthless since I won't be able to afford to put any money into it. So I somehow was able to get on the healthcare.gov exchange (after many attempts) and get some quotes for me and my spouse. The lowest monthly premium they are offering is over $600 a month, with a deductible of 10 grand. Why? Because Gannett's coverage offered ME (no spouse is considered in this bizarre calculation) is affordable, i.e., 90 bucks a month. Gannett is using the ACA as an excuse to create a gigantic s***storm for people like me.

It's not OCare as you eloquently put it. It is Insurance Purchased on an exchange. You can also go to an independent insurance brokerage and get a custom policy that helps ease the burden of the minimal coverage Gannetteers are gvien

Another empty management shell. This guy exhibits no leadership skills and no news judgement and he is never around.. I'm sure he's heading places in this organization, then.
In Reno, he was one of the most ineffective leaders ever. His presence in the newsroom was minimal, his ideas -- when expressed -- were mediocre, and his ability to assess talent was nonexistent. He was, however, exceedingly good at laying people off and defending corporate mandates. In other words, he is perfect for Gannett management, so it makes sense that he would be in a high-ranking position.
I'm so frustrated with my manager, I could SCREAM!!!!! It is ridiculous to work in an office with someone that manages you by email......WTF. Lisa you are the worst manager ever!
If Lisa is that bad, maybe it's better that she sticks to e-mail. Who the hell wants her in your office anyway!
Must be the Gannett way! I have one like that too! I like it myself! The less I have to deal with her, the better chance I have to do my job. And nothing like firing an employee and rehiring that person 6 months later with a raise!!! Classic
My Gannett supervisor was the same way. She even started showing up only 2 or 3 days a week.
So how are the Gannetteers gonna sign up for the plethora of benefits offered during open enrollment at the Deer Valley Center in Phoenix Arizona. The computers made available for just that purpose are worn out and work as well as the affordable healthcare website at the moment.I guess Gannett saves money by powering computers that do not compute by saving money when employees can't sign up during open enrollment.

Speaking about people, there is a great letter from the boss at Politico (posted on Romenesko) about how to treat, infirm and motivate staff. Gannett managers take note.
No company can "infirm" their employees better than Gannett. I get sick coming here almost every day!
Hahaha. So true. The number of depressed and psychologically damaged employees is skyrocketing. No where is the fun greater than at Tyson's.
