  1. How much will Gannett collect from its employees for health care with the new plan plus dental and eye care?

  2. Can we get a list of the non digital companies that are still offering health care plans at a nominal cost? It would be great to be able to compare. You can't include the Googles of the world because they are in a different world.

  3. Will Gannett make contributions to the HSA for retirees, since most, if not all, make far less than $35,000 in Gannett pensions?

  4. Good thing they fired or bought out all the old timers. Otherwise all the skipped colonoscopy and cancer screens due to high office visit charges would cost the company dearly in delayed treatment.

    2. Preventative procedures, like the ones you mention, are still covered 100%. Please understand the plan before bashing.

  6. Turbo Tax website has a nice healthcare calculator that will quickly tell you whether or not your family qualifies for financial assistance and provides other useful information. https://ttlc.intuit.com/health-care/

  7. As Gannett and other companies' employess learn about fast approaching changes to their health plans all might want to take a moment to reflect on this....

“No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise,” President Obama told the American Medical Association in 2009. “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”

It's unfortunate the media entities like Gannett took Obama at his word as what he repeatedly said is anything but what he promised. And, yet, some wonder why credible of this industry continues to slide.

    1. You don't understand the issue. People assumed employers would continue to offer the same plans. That was always a bad assumption.

      Get facts, then come back.

    2. The fact is that Obama promised a scheme that would not affect existing employer-based coverage, and that was a lie. You're right that he's too ignorant of basic economics to know what he was saying, but he said it just the same.

  8. No matter what your political affiliations, one thing is for sure. If it smells like you know what? It usually is! Imagine you make 1.2 million a year and then the average jo makes 28,000. Oh guess what, you pay the same. Great decision for the board and Gracia. You have to be kidding me! Okay poorer people get subsidies, I get it and don't have a problem with it. But in the year 2013, if I make 10,000 dollars per year, and I get hurt. Guess what, I'm going to the hospital and guess what, their going to take care of me. Oh, a bill ? Let's pass it on to the insured. The problem is this: Do we all agree that no matter what happens, everyone should be insured. Let's focus more on the fraud and over billing and the rest of the bs that goes on. Anybody ever think about State run medi centers funded by the government? We give grants for everything else. So Gannett gets to tell me, great job, no raises, furloughs, and by the way, we're buddies now ! You pay half and I'll pay half, except your half is in the millions and mine is? I'll let you know after my next Furlough!

    1. I dont have a problem paying more of a share of health costs. But the hypocrites tHat run Gannett go to far when they squeeze employees on raises, furloughs and all the other non sensical, half assed decisions they make day in and day out. They dont care if the product sucks, they dont care what you think and they certainly dont care what sophisticated readers want. The focus on short term profits is great, maybe, if you make widgets. But this isnt journalism, not on a national level at Usa Today, and certainly not on the local level.

  9. For those of you with too much time on your hands (Styx ROCKS!), the APP has a really cool federal employee info finder. It works all over - not just for Jersey. Notice the caveats at the top - namely, which personnel are exempted from the search.

Nonetheless, give it a shot. If you know your local letter carrier's name, plug it in. Or, start with "Napolitano". You don't need to know the department, just the location.

    Enjoy!

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones.
