  3. This move will save 200K on Lafayette's bottom line and just might prevent more furlough's on a local level. After 13 years, Suisman finally takes one for the team

  4. I knew Gary when he was just a lowly Circulation Director in Ithaca - did a hell of a job there and then in Elmira. Lost track of him after that. He was very intelligent.

  5. Speaking of Lafayette , the other one. Petty is interim because ... He is likely to retire and taking the post isn't a long term option. .? Let's see if Gannett can find someone willing to tackle the tough challenges there .

    1. So, that's at least three that have announced plans to leave on Friday, with relatively little notice.

  8. There is something going on in Shreveport advertising department. Hanisee has not been seen lately in advertising. Soyars has stepped down to a sales rep. Haacker is super friendly to EVERYONE. Kelly of our key desk has quit. Another resignation coming shortly. Of course Hall is kissing butt if you know what I mean. I can't wait to see what comes next.

    1. The same dirty habits exist in the circulation department. Terzotis cannot be blind to what is going on. Resignations coming from our department as well. I have a good mind to write Gracia a long letter and send to her so she will know what dirty secrets goes on in our department. Can I say K, D, and L?

    4. 5:06 pm, do you really think Gracia cares? There are dirty little secrets all over this company. I'm sure yours wouldn't raise an eyebrow compared to the secrets going on at corporate and other sites to make their numbers look better than they are.

    5. There is something going on in Louisiana. Alexandria ad director quits. Lafayette publisher quits. Monroe publisher transferred to Lafayette. Terzotis has the ax in her hand at the chopping block and she will chop chop until all is gone. Chop chop who will be next nobody knows!!!!!!!!!

    6. I am a Shreveport circ employee and I will be happy to see "a few good men" chopped. All we do in this department is watch videos at work and play with numbers. Come on over and join us.

    7. It's all part of Terzotis's plan to get her soldiers in place. She has been recruiting hard. She will have her army when it's all done!!

  9. What is happening with Hanisee? When I was there she was running the joint with Haacker. I thought they were publisher and co-publisher. They ran me off and many others. I found a job in Shreveport and loves being away from those 2.

  11. Make that three Gannett executives in or near Indiana "retiring" Friday after more than 30 years with Gannett. (Louisville, Lafayette, Richmond) Ages 58, 60 and 62. At each newsroom employees were given no real information, just pap. Maybe it's time for all us old-timers to pack the bags and go see the kids. Last one out, please turn out the lights. God save a free press.

While y'all are obsessed with newspapers, Gannett's TV division is making news and not in a pleasant way.

DirecTV and Time Warner Cable have filed major objections with the FCC over Gannett's acquisition of Belo Corp. Those objections are coming from the #1 satellite TV provider and #2 cable company.

    1. The FCC will blow any concerns from these near monopolies away. What gall,

  13. Don't you just hate waking up knowing you have to go to your Gannett work site. And when Friday comes, you are thrilled but you know that Monday will come soon and you will have to go back and face it all again.
And still you stay. It's just a job people! It's not your life or death. Get some self esteem, get a backbone ....get a new job !

    1. You need a new schtick, pal. I know it burns you that other people work and you don't. Try to adjust.

  14. I don't hate going to my work site, 9:22. I still enjoy my job most days and I enjoy being around most of my coworkers. Sometimes I'm able to make a difference with my stories by making people think or care about others. I'm anxious about the future, sure, but I won't let that affect the pleasure I still take in doing a good job. And no, I'm not a corporate drone. I hate Gannett, its lack of strategy and its focus on content volume over substance.

    1. That's a good attitude, 10:15 AM. I wish you the best. Don't ever let your job get to you because life is too short. If you still enjoy what you're doing, keep doing it. Once it consumes you and you're stressed, then it's time to go. And remember, there are other options out there if you need them.

      Delete
    2. 9:22's other option needs to be standing in an intersection.

    3. No,I'm too busy working,yes post Gannett.
In fact,I am ready to walk out the door to
go to work right now. So I will get in my new
Envoy, enjoy the ride and a stress free day
and making a very good living. But thanks for asking.
You just keep hold of that Gannett career forever attitude, keep the low self esteem
and keep trudging away for that wonderful corporation.
I come here for the entertainment and there is plenty of that.

  15. There is such a thing as a 90% coverage Blue Cross plan with free dental and vision. There is such a thing as 50-cent personal car reimbursement. There is such a thing as not having to work off the clock and being able to enjoy uninterrupted weekends with your family. Just not at Gannett. I'm hella glad I walked. Should have done it a decade before I did.

    1. It takes a lot of courage to do what you did and like someone else I know, it paid off in spades. Not having your job hanging over your head adds years to your life.
