An independent journal about the Gannett Co. and the news industry's digital transition
The Detroit Free Press, reporting Hunke's hiring, chose an odd photo of him to illustrate today's story. He looks stunned.
This is hilarious! Strategy? Hunke couldn't develop a strategy to get out of a room with only one door!I'm starting to believe that the Mayans were correct...
Give Hunke a chance. Can't wait to see his "transformation" of Digerati. Can Rudd Davis be far behind?
I smell opportunity for plenty of Motown bullshitting. And a new Vice Presidents Club for Hunke's bestest new pals. What utter buffonery. One can only hope there are some ass kissing cronies he can entice away from the Crystal Palace.
I dont know which one of the words chief strategy officer make me laugh more.
Want to start a pool on how long it takes Gannett to pay for some useless service or product from this company???
The Freep didn't get the facts right. Hunke was "promoted" to Chairman of USAT in April when his retirement was announced. So, he did not retire as President & Publisher. Best part of the story was Hunke's quote about never having seen a company align diverse talent as well as his new company. Guess that explains why he could never align production, circulation, sales, marketing, news, finance, etc.
There is a fool born every day. This hiring proves it.
Can you just picture Hunke at the interview when asked how he handled the "transformation" of USAT. The horse shit must have been unstoppable.
He is deeply missed at Usa Today. There is no one in the Forrest Gump role any longer.
Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
