I haven't seen that date before, but Business Insider drops it into its story today about USA Today homepage redesigns that didn't make the cut. Sept. 29 is a Saturday.
The beta site had a soft launch this past Saturday. Currently, readers surfing to www.usatoday.com land on the existing site in place for years now. To view the new site, they must go to beta.usatoday.com.
Previously, USAT had said only that a full launch would take place later this fall.
