USA Today Confidential | Issue 6.7.12

This comments thread is about USA Today. I revive it occasionally when my readers show particular interest in Gannett's most visible brand. (Archives.)

  1. I'm cross-posting this from another comment thread today:

I believe USAT is holding its first major advertising sales staff meeting in many years -- today/tomorrow at the Virginia headquarters.

This would follow recent talk that SVP/top sales chief Lee Jones is gone.

    1. Yes, they are here to drink the last of the koolaid and mantra chant at the all knowing expertise of Maryam & Murcko.

  2. If they are meeting then it is very undercover and secretive. If Jones is gone then who is in charge of advertising now? Maureen Consavage?

    1. Undercover? You've got to be kidding me. There's a massive buffet in the CP lobby, tables and decorations have been set up for two days and there are signs everywhere.

  3. Brad Jones not Lee Jones resigned/ fired.

  5. Banikarim is on rampage. Set up Ken Doctor newsonomics feature on Kramer and then didn't get a mention. David Payne stole it out from under her. Lucky for the Hunkster there was no mention of his years of mistakes so he can still silently slither out of here. Doctor is right on. There's no saving this already sunk ship.

  6. Whatever morale and spirit we had just got shot in the head by Ken Doctor. I'd say he has a grudge against USA Today if it all wasn't so true. Can't wait to see how Martore will squirm with this one in two weeks for the analysts. Laughable.

  7. Martore is nasty and ruthless. but for all her evil, she cannot save usa today or gannett by cutting her way to profits. its about content. always will be.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones.
