Rockford | Words to avoid in your farewell column

Wood
Rockford Register Star "word guru" Barry Wood apparently was a little too candid in his farewell column at the Illinois paper, which Gannett sold way, way downriver to GateHouse Media in 2007.

Perhaps, blogger Jim Romenesko asks, GateHouse killed the column because Wood used words like "layoff," "fire," "ax" and "terminate"?

  1. There's a reason present and past employees refer to that joke of a company as S--thouse Media.

Best wishes to you, Mr. Wood.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
