Two recent contributors attached kind notes to their PayPal donations.
In Virginia, a reader giving $15 said: "Got a new job so I figured I'd kick in some cash to celebrate."
And in Arizona, enclosing $20, a reader wrote: "Your work is still important to those of us left at Gannett. Don't let the haters and naysayers get you down. This is the only source of reliable information we get about our employer."
With those donations, I'm now at 44% of my quarterly goal. But, yikes: The quarter is already 57% over. The breakdown:

Jim: Unlike Gannett papers (especially the paywalled ones), your advertising revenue seems to be inching up, as your donations become a smaller percentage of your overall gross.
