Modeled after the Palace of Versailles outside Paris, the 25,500-square-foot Chateau de Lumiere would be built in the Great Falls, Va., neighborhood where Craig Dubow is spending his retirement after slashing 20,000 jobs.
This month, he sued to block construction, claiming it would destroy the area's "sylvan" character. The Washington Post says it could cost up to $20 million to build:

I've found an error in the lawsuit filing.
ReplyDeleteThey really mean to say the home would destroy the area's "sly man" character!
A Great Falls home at an address associated with Dubow has six bedrooms, nearly seven bathrooms, and covers 8,400 square feet, according to real estate site Zillow.
ReplyDeleteIt was last sold in 2002 for $1.7 million, the site says.
Over the past four years, according to Zillow, improvements have included a $400,000 deck; a $200,000 basement remodel to add a movie screen; a $200,000 master suite; $40,000 gym, and a $90,000 back-up power generator -- valuing the property now at $2.8 million.
What is the point?
ReplyDelete11:19, was that supposed to be funny? It wasn't.
ReplyDeleteYou should try cliff-diving instead.
Jim...did the report on the remodel mention anything on the extensive security changes made to the property?...
ReplyDelete11:19 good one. Thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDelete12:06 PM must be this area's sybaritic character.

ReplyDeleteHow do you spend $90k on a backup power generator? Clearly, Craig felt no financial need to haggle on home improvement costs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great asset that would be to the area. Imagine the tax revenue it would bring in, and it is about the almighty dollar, RIGHT???? Certainly hope the The Building Group wins!
ReplyDeleteCORRECTION:
ReplyDeleteCertainly hope The Building Group wins.
My orginal thought on this house subject was WHO GIVES A SHIT! Then after rethinking it should be brought up for more than one reason. Someone stated about his legal package which means in some way shape or form we are paying out more for his retirement package. When does it end for these people. I guess the 37 million was not enough. The board of directors should be ashamed of them selves for not firing this clown for preformance. I hope his neighbors read this blog and understand what a failure this man is as a leader.
ReplyDeleteI believe that in the grand scheme of things, everyone gets what they got coming to them. This neighbor wanting to stick that house next to CD's might just be as close as any of we Gannett employees could come to giving it back to him. It will make him feel so small and insignificant. Guffaw!
ReplyDeleteI plan to be at the Yi Housewarming Party. In my French Revolution couture.
ReplyDelete$40,000 for a workout room? Craig always looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy?
ReplyDeleteA workout room? Back to bad to push aa pencil yet he has a state of the art workout room?
ReplyDeleteI hope Yi decides to increase the size of her mansion just to spite Lord of the Manor Dubow.
ReplyDeleteI can see why Dubow is concerned.
ReplyDeleteWith an estate like that next door to him, his meager dwelling will look like the neighborhood crack house.
I for one wouldn't want Dubow feel like he is less of a man and provider for his family.

ReplyDeleteIf you build it, he will go.
ReplyDeleteIs it true he inherited the Al head as part of his severance package?
ReplyDeleteToo bad there isn't a mobile home park going up. Or a sewage treatment plant.
ReplyDeleteBig Al is still at Florida Today keeping vigil at the front door.
ReplyDeleteIf you are interested, I can ship him to you, if the price is right.
I believe that in the grand scheme of things, everyone gets what they got coming to them.
ReplyDeleteI would think that after what he has done too so many people that craig would have desperate need for a sleep disorder clinic.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that bothers me in this whole sordid affair is all the trees that Yi Young had hacked down. Oh, and the fact that his frickin' workout room cost more than my annual wages.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Craig. Now drop and give me 20.
Security camera’s monitoring Yi’s site 24/7 during construction: $5,000.
ReplyDeleteAdditional camera pointed at Dubow’s home to monitor his actions in light of his lawsuit: $1,000.
Opening up those live feeds on Gannettblog: Priceless!
Pray for this piitiful man.
ReplyDeleteCraig got a construction hardhat and a clipboard and walked the Yi construction site yesterday. Too bad he left the price tag on his new Red Wing construction boots. Craig. really. It's time to stop playing grownup and act like one.
ReplyDeleteTo think this is what this guy gets all hot and bothered about. Too bad he didn't have this gumption when he was overseeing the last five year implosion of Gannett.
ReplyDeleteOne question. is $37 million and medical insurance for life going to be enough for this guy?
There is plenty of room at the Cryatal Palace if Craig wants to move to an over the top relic reflect to opulence that befits someone of his stature.
ReplyDeleteAnything new on his move to Hickory, NC I believe it was? Maybe I'm remembering that all wrong.
