I dunno. Looks like a LOT of gray area here that doesn't quite support this is all about "shutting down an aggressive reporter/First Amendment atrocity" etc. argument that's usually made in this case.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not a corp stooge. 20 year veteran journalist. If you really read the details even within the context of a summary that's biased in the reporter's favor, there are some red flags here raised about the reporter in question.
Yes without question.
ReplyDeleteSteve was his own worst enemy, mistreating coworkers, disrespecting sources and lashing out at bosses. He was a good reporter but that doesn't justify the constant trouble he was in. Editors had enough and gave him several warnings, and he ignored them time and again. It's only surprising he got away with so much for so long.

ReplyDeleteAnd what's your name, 11:55? What's fair is fair ...
ReplyDeletePeople who mistreat, disrespect and lash out at others? Sounds like he has a career as a Gannett senior editor.
ReplyDeleteI want to know more about his accusation of favoritism. I bet that had more to do with this than any source complaint.
And yours, 12:02? Don't let us down -- we need to know who to apply the "genius" label to. Your response is so clever and original!
ReplyDeleteNo Gannett fanboi here, but this kid crossed the line more than once. More suited for Mother Jones.
