DealChicken now promoting travel discounts

Gannett's daily deal site is moving into the travel business, with a new promotion this weekend for discounts on overseas and domestic destinations.

"Starting this month,'' says an e-mail I received today, "DealChicken will offer great deals on travel from tropical escapes to romantic B&B's.''

Based on examples of travel deals, it appears the discounts are for hotel stays, and not on airfare.

As an incentive, DealChicken is offering a chance to win a $500 credit toward a travel deal for those who sign up for the service by March 31.

  1. I like the chic. Bought several great deals in Jersey and happy I did.

  2. Those romantic B&B's are the last blue chip program vendors. They take USAT's in return for half-off coupons on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Having bashed Gannett enough, it's time for me to praise Caesar. They seem to be promoting the Chicken, including buying time on those new digital billboards, seen as you drive over the Driscoll Bridge on the Garden State Parkway north, and on AOL, so if your address is the Jersey Shore, a Deal Chicken "Deals Asbury" banner ad comes up.
Now roll out the remainder of the digital business (as in revenue) plan.

  5. I hope it's generating some actual profit for the company.

  6. When you consider new support staff and hardware procured to get DC up and running, its hard to think they're profitable yet. It may reach that point someday, but probably not.....Gannett will sell before it gets there. There are already whispers....

  7. The travel deals are a joke. Same deals from Beyond Boundaries. LS still holds the best deals. DC once again is a day late. Been almost 2 months and they had to kee that dumb NYC card up there to give the appearance of having actual deals.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
